A family is one the 7 taxa within the classification of organisms. The felidae family, also known as the cat family, consists of organisms such as the Sumatran Tiger and the African Lion. Some characteristics of the felidae family include: - being carnivores -having whiskers -retractable/(semi-retractable) claws -night vision -nocturnal (behaviour) Being classified in the family not only allows the organisms to share particular characteristics, but it is also understood that the organisms share the previous four taxa as well. |
