cougar
Felis Concolor
ABOUT
Cougars, also referred to as mountain lions, pumas, or panthers, are Canada's largest native cat and the only one with a long tail. Like the majority of the other members of the Felidae, cougars are solitary creatures and most active at night.
Cougars have powerful and narrow bodies with strong legs. They excel in climbing and have the ability to jump over long distances (eg. ravines). Cougars also have short snouts which increases the power of the cat's bit and makes it a skilled predator.

HABITAT
Cougars can be found in coniferous forests, deserts, swamps, grasslands, lowland tropical forests, and dry forests. These animals are able to live in such a large range of habitats because they are able to tolerate most areas that provide adequate cover and prey. Altogether once found through all of North America, many factors have caused the eastern population of cougars to become endangered.
The colour and size of the cougar varies geographically and depending on the environment, their coat range from a reddish brown to quite the opposite; bluish grey. Because of the large span of adaptations in appearance (like coat colour), cougars are called the masters of camouflage.
