CHEETAh
Acinonyx jubatus jubatus
ABOUT
The cheetah is the world's fastest land animal over short distances. Unlike many other cats, the cheetah hunts during the day while other carnivores are resting.
It is able to run up to 112 km/h!
Because of the cheetah's extremely fast speed, it's body must be able to perform is physical feats. Cheetahs have long tails for balance, extended legs and a very flexible spine that allows it to move easily. Unlike other Felidae cats, the cheetahs claws are not fully retractable, only able to partially bring them in.
The cheetah also has a very powerful heart and lungs with a greater lung capacity compared to other cats. It's large nostrils and strong arteries also work to aid the cheetah when running. All of these adaptations help give the cheetah the necessities and characteristics required to run as fast as they do.

HABITAT
Cheetahs are located in the African Savanna and they prefer habitats of open/partially open savannas (trees/rocky areas are used as lookout points sometimes). Cheetahs live in these flatter landscapes because their speciality is running at high speeds and a flat landscape is ideal when striding towards prey.
Cheetahs have sandy coats with black spots. These coats help camouflage into grasses of the savanna. The black tear lines around the cheetah's eyes help to prevent the sun from reflecting into their eyes. All of these adaptations are based off of the cheetah's habitat.
